The nominations have been revealed for this season's PFA Players' Player of the Year award with six star names vying for the top prize.

12th April 2008 - PFA announce the nominations for this year’s Players’ Player and Young Player of the year awards with six EPL star names vying for the top prize.

Last year’s winner Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United is one of the nominees in both categories along with the Arsenal's brilliant midfielder Cesc Fabregas and Liverpool top score Fernando Torres. Another free-scoring striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, is also a contender for Players' Player of the Year after an excellent season.

Incredibly seven of the nine nominees, in both categories, are in their early 20s, whilst only one is over 30 - the evergreen David James who, along with Liverpool's inspirational skipper Steven Gerrard, completes the line-up for the main award.

Torres, Fabregas and Ronaldo, Aston Villa pair Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ashley Young are up for the Young Player of the Year award. The six nominees are completed by Manchester City defender Micah Richards.

The winners will be announced on Sunday 27th April at a glimmer ceremony. So much talent, and so many worthy contenders, and here PFA Chief Executive Gordon Taylor pays his own personal tribute to the nine men fighting it out for two of the most prestigious titles in the domestic game.

Below are the Candidates for this year Player’s Player.

Emmanuel Adebayor – The best striker for Arsenal after Thierry Henry’s. He is one of the Africa’s young talents as striker from Togo.

Fernando Torres – The player from Liverpool which helps the team to enter the semifinal of UEFA Champions League. The Spaniard has notching 21 Premier League goals so far.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Last year’s best Player winner has enter once again. The Portuguese has help Manchester United’s from behind 10 point Arsenal to current Top positions.

Cesc Febregas – The best of the best Arsenal’s midfielder has driven the Gunners forward on all fronts this season after Patrick Vieira left to Inter Milan.

David James – Portsmouth best goalkeeper and he has an excellent role model to all player.

Steven Gerrard – A great leader from Liverpool’s have a fantastic season to led the Reds to bring the team to another round of UEFA Champions League Final.

Young Player of the Year

Ronaldo, Torres and Fabregas, three more players are in the running for the young player prize. The Chief Executive of PFA Gordon Taylor gives his verdict on the contenders

Gabriel Agbonlahor from Aston Villa - he is such a direct player with pace to burn and, whilst he can lead the line, he will gallop onto through balls all day long. He has made great progress and, for the sake of club and country, we hope he continues to develop.

Micah Richards from Manchester City - A fantastic player, Micah is a magnificent young man with natural ability and athleticism. Progressed to international level at a very young age and he will be a regular fixture in the England team for years to come.

Ashley Young from Aston Villa - Like Gabby Agbonlahor, Ashley is benefiting from working under such a good manager in Martin O'Neill whose decision to splash out �10million might have been viewed as a gamble at the time. In fact, it was a very shrewd piece of business.
